Color:
Color
stirs up emotion and speaks to us all in a
different way. Think of what emotions
you want to feel in each room. (ex. relaxed
in the bedroom, energetic in the kitchen)
Choose colors that bring on those emotions.
The first
place to start choosing colors for your
home is in your closet!
The colors
that you wear the most are the colors that
you love for a reason...they look good on
you. Surround yourself with them. Add color
to the walls, or add pops of color in art or
accessories that you place throughout your
home.
Adding
color to a room can be the most
inexpensive way to transform it!
The next
time that you paint a room, consider
painting the ceiling! The ceiling is a huge
blank canvas to work with. You create a more
comfortable room when you are surrounded by
color. The possibilities are endless.
Interior Decorating & Redesign:
Did you
know that most people hang their art too
high? If art is too high on the wall it
is floating in the room with no purpose. Art
should be hung 4-6" above furniture or a
mantle.
Your furniture should be grouped in an
8-10' area to spark conversation in a
den/family room.
A big "No
No" in decorating is done in most homes
across America. What is it? Placing a mirror
over a fireplace. A mirror over the
fireplace is not reflecting anything except
the ceiling and possibly the ceiling fan.
Place a mirror on a wall where it can
reflect a beautiful piece of art, or a
beautiful view.
